Sweden

Students say farewell at the airport after a great week in Sweden. An emotional goodbye with hopes of seeing each other again.

Erasmus students participated in the school’s activity called “PEP for Life”. It was time to say goodbye after a meaningful week together. We had an award ceremony for participants of the project.

Thursday was a day full of workshops and presentations. First both students and teachers presented about renewable energy sources. Teachers had a CLIL workshop about creating models of hydroelectric power stations while students had a workshop about surviving an energy blackout. Our headmistress informed teachers about the Swedish school system. Afterward, we visited Retuna Recycling Mall, well known for only having shops focused on Secondhand. After lunch, we visited Ekeby Wetland (Sweden’s largest landscaped wetland) and finished with a guided tour of Eskilstuna’s bio-energy power plant.

In the evening, host families, students, and teachers from Sweden organized a party for all participants of the project. It was a night full of joy, dance, laughter and also tears when the students realized that the week was almost over.

In the morning, we met with the mayor in the Town Hall. The mayor explained about the municipal and how important water, the river and the sea are for Eskilstuna, both now and earlier. The Second stop was a visit to the Munktell Museum where we had a guided tour. After eating lunch near the river the students engaged in the gamification activity about the importance of hydropower and its effects on the local area. The day ended with a visit to the City Museums where we had a chance to learn more about the history of Eskilstuna.

We visited Stockholm. The Swedish students had prepared presentations of historical places. On our way back we made a stop in Mariestad and visited Gripsholm Castle.
